Directions to the Children's Institute

The Children's Institute is located in the Squirrel Hill section of
Pittsburgh. The main entrance is on Shady Avenue. Free parking is available
in the Northumberland lot.
From the Parkway (I-376):
Take Squirrel Hill Exit 5. Turn left off the exit onto Forward Avenue and
stay in the right-hand lane. Continue on Forward to the second traffic light
and turn left onto Shady Avenue. Follow Shady Ave. past Northumberland (the
fifth traffic light). The entrance is on the right.
From the Turnpike:
Take Pittsburgh Interchange 6. From toll gate take ramp to Pittsburgh. Take
Parkway (I-376) heading west to Squirrel Hill Exit 5. Follow directions to
the Institute (listed above).
From the Liberty Bridge:
Take Blvd. of the Allies to I-376 East. Take the Squirrel Hill Exit 5.
Follow directions to the Institute (listed above).
From Interstate 279 South:
Take I-279 to I-579, the Crosstown expressway in downtown Pittsburgh. Follow
signs to I-376. Take the Squirrel Hill Exit 5. Follow directions to the
Institute (listed above).
From Route 8 or 28:
Take the Highland Park Bridge (north of Pittsburgh). Follow signs to
Washington Blvd. Washington Blvd. becomes Fifth Avenue at the intersection
of Penn Avenue. Proceed straight on Fifth to the second light. This is Shady
avenue. Turn left and follow Shady across Wilkins Avenue (the first traffic
light). The entrance is immediately on the left.
